Created for a residential real estate developer, this web portal application provides residents in active retirement communities with access to news, information and various community services via the internet.  A content management system supports the web portal and provides content administrators with a means of accessing and modifying the information presented to the residents.

Content includes such elements as calendars containing activities and events, phonebooks (contact lists), information alerts, bulletin boards, articles, links, file downloads, on-line surveys and others.

Content is administered at various levels for various types of entities within the community. For example, communities may contain clubhouses, spas, a homeowners association, restaurants and many others.   Content administration for all communities and their component entities is managed from a single user interface, but can be assigned at various levels to different administrators

Built-in security and permissions management allows content managers at various levels to access only the information for which they have permissions to access.

A tool permits newsletters to be quickly generated from existing content and instantly mailed to community members

Benefits to client

This application replaced an existing web portal/content management system. The new system provides the client with more freedom, including greater ability to customize the content presented to users and to add new organizational structure to the communities (i.e., restaurants, clubs).

This system uses a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database with an ASP.NET user interface.  ASP.NET web services are also used. The web portal application is designed using Adobe Flash 8.0 and uses remoting to access the database.
